We got the blondies bikes going and I had a wonderful day riding bikes with them. Why didn't we do that 6 months ago???
So often that is the way it goes. I wait to do something that I KNOW would be a good thing... Finally get it done - then feel bad because I didn't do it sooner. How dumb is that!!!!
Why not revel in the moment. The moment that whatever "IT" is... well it is finally accomplished. No use in wasting good time feeling bad about what I "shoulda, woulda coulda" done. Just feel really good about the moment I do finish it.
I have a quilt I started for a niece. I haven't quilted in many years...( I tried to figure out HOW many years but it made my head hurt so I quit). For some crazy reason I thought I could start quilting again by making one of the most difficult quilts there is. So now "the quilt" is in progress.... I don't know how long it will be in progress but I do know that I am not going to feel bad about it. I am not going to beat myself up over the fact that I am not feverishly sewing till by fingers bleed to finish it.
I will get it done. I won't feel bad about how long it takes. AND.. I will revel in each stitch that I do knowing that it is at least a stitch in the right directions.

Most of the time my job is amazing. I get to be a part of a very special time in a family's history. The birth of a child. Wonderful, magical, joyful.
Then there are those times that my job isn't so great. Calling parents in the wee hours of the morning to tell them they better come in to the unit... something has gone wrong.... their baby is ill....
Soooo....
I want to be a baker. Cake baker. Cupcake baker. Baker of all that is sweet and delicious. I have been supplying the night shift staff in my unit with goodies for a while now. The other day, after a sad and hard night at work I made a butter rum cake. It was delish! I actually made two. A small one for my husband and a big one for no one in particular. It will be going to work with me tonight.
I got my first "order" for a cake... A carrot cake for a ladies bunko group. How much to charge? Probably nothing... It is for my mother's bunko group. But it is a start.
Monday I am going to practice making those pretty little flowers you find on fancy cakes.... Do you think Carlos the Cake Boss could take me in and teach me a few things.... Hmmmmm

Birthdays
Yesterday was the day I gave birth to two of my children. No not twins. They were born seven years apart. At the end of the day here were some of my thoughts....
Why do we celebrate the birthday with the person that was birthed.... I think the mother should be celebrated on each and every one of their children's birthdays. She is the one that carried you in her belly for 9+ months. Went throught DAYs of labor before pushing you out of (well you know)... With an epidural placed at the last minute.... She is also the one that fed you with another part of her body, changed your diapers, comforted you when you cried, protected you from harm, taught you all kinds of good stuff. Kissed your owies (ok well I sort of told you all to walk it off) but at least that taught you to be tough....
And not to mention the fact that once you are a mother there is no going back. For me X 4. My children (all adults...at least by age numbers) still need their mom. I am ok with that. Except I think I would like presents now on all of their birthdays. Let's celebrate the ones that actually gave the kids life.
So Happy 30th Birthday Sarah and Happy 23rd Birthday Jordan.... When do I get my presents???

The New Year
So here it is. A new year. Time to make changes, lose weight, get fit, get rich, work harder, work less, love more, find love, get a dog, travel more, travel less, find God, do more with friends, do less with friends, spend more time with loved ones, and the list goes on.
I wish I had some great wisdom to share, but I don't. I don't make resolutions. At least I don't make ONE resolution this ONE time of the year. I make them all year long. Stop eating junk, walk the dog more, ride my bike.... things like that.
As far as my hope for this year... well I hope for better health (had a crappy one last year). Hope for the random kids of ours to become less dependant (seems to be getting better). Hope for the economy to improve (keep dreaming!). Hope for that house in the country with the wrap around porch and a few acres and a horse and.....(you know it COULD happen)..
And I hope this year brings happiness, contentment, health and lots of laughter to all.
and to all a good night. Wait that goes with a different story... ...
